It’s easy to think of God and Jesus Christ as figures of the past. Stories from the Bible, told and retold, sometimes feel like ancient tales of a time long gone. But the truth is far greater than history. God and Jesus Christ are not confined to the pages of a book or the events of thousands of years ago. They are alive, active, and present—right here, right now.
God is not a distant memory or a character etched into the annals of time. He is spirit, the ultimate source of all life and creation. He exists in the eternal now, living and moving within us. This profound reality transforms the way we see both God and ourselves. When we embrace His presence in the here and now, our relationship with Him becomes vibrant and personal, rather than static and historical.
Living in the Present with God
One of the most powerful truths about God is that He is timeless. While He was present in the miracles of the past and will reign in the promises of the future, His essence is fully here in this moment. When we understand this, it changes how we approach our faith. Prayer, worship, and even our day-to-day actions become opportunities to connect with the living God who is actively working in our lives.
Jesus Christ, too, is not just the Savior of yesterday or the hope for tomorrow; He is the reflection of God’s love and grace dwelling within us now. His spirit lives in our hearts, guiding us, comforting us, and calling us to reflect His light in the world. This is a profound gift—to know that we carry within us the presence of Jesus, even in our imperfections.
A Reflection of God’s Presence
As human beings, we are not perfect. We stumble, make mistakes, and struggle with our limitations. But even in our imperfection, we are made in the image of God. We are reflections of His spirit and His love. This doesn’t mean we will always get it right, but it does mean that His presence within us gives us the ability to grow, to love, and to bring His light into the world.
When we see ourselves as carriers of God’s presence, we begin to view life differently. The mundane becomes sacred. The challenges we face become opportunities to rely on His strength. And our interactions with others become chances to reflect His love and grace.
God in the Everyday
Bringing God and Jesus Christ into the present day means inviting them into every part of our lives. It’s recognizing that they are not separate from the moments we live but are fully intertwined with them. God is there when we feel joy, reminding us of His blessings. He is there in our sorrow, offering comfort and hope. He is there in the quiet moments, whispering His truth and love.
This understanding calls us to live in the now, to be fully present in each moment, knowing that God is with us. It means letting go of regrets about the past and worries about the future, trusting that His presence in the present is enough. It’s in this moment, this breath, that we encounter the living God.
Imperfect Reflections, Perfect Love
Though we are imperfect, we are loved by a perfect God. His spirit within us is not diminished by our flaws; instead, it shines through them, reminding us that His grace is sufficient. When we fail, He lifts us up. When we doubt, He reassures us. And when we struggle to see Him, He remains faithful, always present and always near.
Living with the awareness of God’s presence in the present day transforms our faith and our lives. It’s a reminder that He is not a distant memory or an abstract idea. He is here, now, alive within us and around us. And as we embrace this truth, we find the strength to live with purpose, the courage to love fully, and the peace of knowing that we are never alone.
God is not just the God of the past or the future; He is the God of today, the God of this very moment. And in this moment, He invites us to walk with Him, to know Him, and to reflect His light to the world.
