Greetings in the mighty name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
So as in my past blogs, I have a question for you. Do you like storms? I’m talking about thunder, lightning, rain, etc. not “the storms of life” right now. I personally love them! I always wanted to be a storm chaser. The power of nature has always intrigued me, even as a young person. I watch the meteorologists covering storms and what they risk trying to help everyone in the path and it makes me want to be out there with them! Recently I found this show on YouTube TV called “In The Eye of the Storm”. Each episode focuses on individual storms that caused major damage. As we all know, so many people have cameras on their doorbells or security cameras around their homes and businesses. (Isn’t it a shame that we need that kind of security?
But that’s another question for another day.) So, this show takes those security videos along with personal phone footage to basically take the viewers through what the people go through during the storms, up close and very personal. As I watched the different episodes, I noticed that some people prayed like they’ve never prayed before, calling on the name of Jesus, the One they know can help them. Almost all screamed out in fear and panic as they prayed or even begged forgiveness to make sure if they died, they would be welcomed into Heaven. Then there were others who cursed and used God’s name in vain. That upset me more than you could even know. There was a woman in a very dangerous situation with her children and all she did was curse and so did her oldest son. I’m not trying to judge here. I understand that when faced with life and death, everyone handles it differently but, I pray, with everything within me that if I had to face those types of situations, I would be praying and asking our Lord and Savior to spare me or take me home quickly, not using foul language and even using His name in vain.
I know I’ve shared this before, but God’s Word is clear that we will be held accountable for every word that comes from our mouths. It doesn’t say “depending on your situation”. There were many lives lost in those storms, and as I watched, I also thought about all the recent floods and storms, earthquakes, wars, murders, etc. that happen every single day. I wonder how I would handle those situations. How would you?
