I’ve read that the reason why we have two eyes instead of one is to produce depth perception.
That is just one of the amazing things our Creator did for us. Think about a race of Cyclops, constantly bumbling and fumbling around with both arms outstretched like Frankenstein, trying to just navigate a short walk somewhere.
2 Peter 3:18 says, “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
Some of us are more naturally attuned to His grace, others towards knowledge. In context, this encouragement is given for believers to be able to discern between true and false teachers. False teachers twist and pervert the Scriptures (v.16). The Lord knows we are sheep and have a tendency to follow anyone who will give us pleasant meals and promises.
Consider this way of remembering to grow in both grace and knowledge — one without the other does not allow for us to have any depth perception!
We need both to grow deeper in the Lord, to persevere, to be steadfast and trust the Lord and not in man.
Lastly – poking fun at myself and other fellow seniors: when I need to really concentrate on my vision while driving I now turn the radio down. 😂
There’s an illustration here — when I really need both eyes open spiritually, we have to turn the noise down. In this extremely noisy world, with false teachers so prevalent and boisterous, we all need to double down on the “basics.”
Praying for you right now.
Love you and appreciate you
