Greetings in the mighty name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
My husband and I were reading our devotions and God’s Word the other evening and I wanted to share part of the devotion. I absolutely love Billy Graham and so over the years I have purchased a couple of his devotionals. I want to share part of one from “Wisdom for Each Day.” He said, “It took 1600 years to write.
More than thirty authors acting as secretaries for God wrote its sixty-six books. Over those 1600 years, these individual authors wrote the message, and so unified is the message that the sixty-six books actually comprise one Book!” One of the many reasons I love God’s Word is that it is full of people just like you and me! Sinners, that’s right, sinners. Some were drunks, murderers, even full of demons! Some followed God and then got caught up in their own lives and turned from Him. Some came back and were forgiven and some didn’t.
God’s Word also tells us that we all have a common enemy. He is not only our enemy, but also God’s enemy. Yes, it’s Satan, the devil, the father of lies, the deceiver of all. There is a great battle between good and evil constantly going on in the spiritual realm all around us, just as there are good and wicked people. God’s Word tells us how to fight the battle and win! But we must have the Spirit of God within us and with us to do so. Even Jesus was tempted by Satan. I have so much more to share with you, and I encourage you to get in God’s Word! Even if you get one scripture a day, that’s something to help fight the battle. Stay strong my friends!
