As usual, I have a question. When you open your eyes in the morning (or afternoon for you late nighters) what is on your mind? Are you under a lot of stress and start worrying about your job or all the things you need to do or places you need to go? Perhaps you’re stressed about your children and all their activities or perhaps their behavior. I don’t know too many people that don’t have a routine. You get up, maybe take a shower, brush your teeth, get dressed, etc. Then if you have children, you have to get them up and get them ready or get them started at least, maybe cook breakfast, pack lunches, plan dinner, and the list goes on and on and on and…. Next question: Where is God in all of your routines of each day? Is He even a thought? If you are going through something such as a stressful job, troubled marriage, even abuse, sickness, or just the stress of every day, do you use God as your last resort or your first resource? Since I decided to have a personal relationship with my Lord and Savior, most mornings I even wake up with a song in my mind. Please don’t think I am saying I’m better than anyone else because I am certainly not.
There is stress in my life just like everyone else. But I don’t worry because I know that God is in control no matter what is happening. I know God loves me and I know that if He brings me to something, He will get me through it. God’s Word tells us in Philippians 4:6-7 Be anxious for nothing, but in EVERYTHING by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. It also says, in Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. I want to assure you; God made you in His image.
You were created for a purpose, His purpose. May I encourage you to wake up, spend at least a moment with your Creator, read a scripture of the day, and throughout the day, let Him know how much you trust Him. Live 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in EVERYTHING give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” And watch what God will do in your life! One more suggestion: Turn on your Christian music (whatever genre you prefer) and worship your Lord and Savior all day, every day! Your life will be changed forever when you put your trust in God!
